TAP Committees

Project committees

Each TAP member is assigned to one of six Project Committees where they identify issues impacting taxpayers with a focus on making recommendations for improving IRS products and services, increasing customer satisfaction and improving the overall customer experience. TAP members focus on specific issues through project work and provide feedback to the IRS on new and existing IRS programs and initiatives.

Joint Committee

Governing board for the TAP that includes representatives from each of the Project Committees.

Notices and Correspondence Committee

Partners with the IRS to review, update, and improve notices and general correspondence letters.

Special Projects Committee

Addresses issues not covered by the other established TAP Project committees. The committee’s work includes, but is not limited to: issues regarding E-Services, identify theft, and tax issues impacting…

TAC Improvements Committee

Partners with the IRS to provide input from the taxpayer’s perspective on improving services and the customer’s experience at Taxpayer Assistance Center offices.

Tax Forms & Publications Committee

Reviews and develops recommendations to improve various IRS forms and publications identified by taxpayers or the IRS as needing revisions.

Taxpayer Communications Committee

Provides feedback from the taxpayer’s perspective related to: improving how the IRS communicates, using various resources, to promote their digital channels.

Toll-Free Phone Lines

Dedicated to improving the services and customer experience of the IRS’s toll-free phone lines, including the Practitioner Priority Service phone line.
