Notices and Correspondence Committee

Our focus

The Notices and Correspondence Project Committee has reinstated the partnership with the IRS to review, update and improve notices and general correspondence letters. It will also provide feedback and recommendations regarding the IRS.gov website, including landing pages and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), to ensure a more appropriate understanding of the content and purpose of the corresponding notice.

Paul Berlage

Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. My parents sent me to Catholic schools which is very common inCincinnati. Purcell Marian High School 1987-1991 (Valedictorian), George Washington University 1991-1995,Electrical/Civil Engineering. My entire professional career, beginning in July 1995 to the present, has been in the real estate titleresearch, insurance, and problem resolution areas. I work as an independent real estate title examinerfocusing on SW Ohio, but I have also worked as a landman clearing problems for leasing purposes for the oiland gas industry. I am married to Lee Anne Berlage with a daughter at Purdue, a son in high school, a stepdaughter at OhioUniversity and a grown stepson employed by Cincinnati Bell Technology Solutions. We enjoy travel and food, sports and the arts.

Shani Bowser

Shani works in risk management specializing in third-party risk and information security. Her workaccomplishments include developing a mature third-party risk management program, executing work plans,performing risk assessments; developing risk management training and an educational framework to drive arisk-aware culture and responsiveness; and mitigating risk to accomplish enterprise objectives. This workrequires effective communication and collaboration with many lines of business, clients, and vendors.Previously, as an Assistant Branch Manager, this work also focused on developing long-term relationshipswith business and retail customers to gain a deeper understanding of their financial needs to makerecommendations that added value to achieve their financial goals. Working in financial services for the previous 15 years, her key skill areas are relationship building, third-party and IT risk management (risk assessment, gap analysis, and remediation), regulatory compliance, androot cause analysis to identify issues and design improvements. Shani is a native Pennsylvanian and received a BS in Business Administration from Elizabethtown Collegeand a MBA with a concentration in Finance from the John L Grove College of Business at ShippensburgUniversity of Pennsylvania.

Felecia is an Enrolled Agent and degreed Accountant with over 35+ yrs. experience in Tax & Accounting.Felecia has been assisting in the editing of the University of Illinois Farm Tax Manual since 1998 and is aNational Instructor on many different topics! Felecia is a past member and Chair of “SEEC” SpecialEnrollment Exam Committee on writing the EA Exam and member of “IRSAC” the Internal Revenue ServiceAdvisory Committee to the Commissioner of the IRS in Washington, DC. Felecia was also named TaxBuzzTop 100 Professional for 2017. Felecia is an avid dancer with her own dance studio and teaches Clogging during the week and is a LicensedPyrotechnic and shoots the 4th of July Fireworks for her home town. Ron was born in Southern California but grew up in Rhode Island. He has since lived and worked inNew York City, Washington, DC and Texas before settling in New Mexico where he currently resideswith his wife and two daughters. Ron has had successful careers in information technology andretail management but he now devotes most of his time in the nonprofit world which he entered intoby the way of a year of service with the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

I am not the typical person you would think of to be on the committy. I have a BA in Geological Sciences andam working on my MS in Environmental GIS. I am a data guy through and through! With that, I also am ascuba diver, hiker, photographer, etc.

I’m Kimberly Shepherd. I have a Bachelor’s in Accounting, MBA degree, an Enrolled agent with 10 yearsof upper management experience in healthcare & non-profit accounting. I’ve always had the passion forhelping others, and decided to start an accounting firm, In-Sync Accounting & Consulting, to help othersacross the United States with their monthly accounting, small business & 501(c)3 start-ups, and tax debtresolution. I’m very excited to be selected as the TAP member for Louisiana, for this will bring forth mycontinual passion with helping others & building great relationships with members across the world.
