My name is Dr. Donna Burris. I have a PhD in Decision Science, an MBA in Finance, and a Bachelor ofScience in Accounting. Until recently, I was a corporate executive at a high-end luxury international retailerwhere I was the lead in the training and development roll-out of a major business initiative that included over2,000 employees. Currently, I am an Adjunct Professor for New York’s CUNY institution, where commitment to studentengagement, both within and outside the classroom, is mandatory. While my courses can vary, someincludes the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as applying theoriesand practices to analyze and interpret accounting books, records, and systems. By analyzing these laws,students are able to apply methodologies to real-life events. I have extensive experience in process improvement, strategic and risk management, project management,performance measures and customer relation techniques. In addition, in depth knowledge on how to driveorganizational change at a large company across a variety of business lines while leading and managingstaff to achieve high performing results. Getting the opportunity to be a public service advocate, is a dream come true. By applying my educationaland professional experiences, I do believe that I can be an asset to the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel.
