Listening leads to better taxpayer service. At the IRS Nationwide Tax Forum in Chicago, the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP) connected with tax professionals from across the country to hear their experiences, gather ideas, and identify opportunities to improve IRS service.

The IRS Nationwide Tax Forum provides a unique opportunity for TAP to connect directly with the tax professionals who help taxpayers every day. At this year’s forum in Chicago, TAP volunteer Dr. Olurotimi Akindele and a staff member welcomed visitors to the TAP boothanswered questions about the panel’s mission, and encouraged attendees to share ideas for improving IRS service.

Throughout the forum, tax professionals shared feedback about the challenges they and their clients experience when interacting with the IRS. Their insights highlighted opportunities to improve IRS programs, strengthen customer service, and enhance the taxpayer experience.

As an independent Federal Advisory Committee to the IRS, TAP listens to taxpayers and tax professionals and submits recommendations to the IRS for consideration. Feedback gathered through outreach events like the IRS Nationwide Tax Forum helps identify opportunities to improve tax administrationbecause every TAP recommendation begins with taxpayer feedback.
