IRS continues to experience a backlog of inventory due to COVID and other legislative COVID changes. Funding is not available for programming changes to the messaging on Where’s My Amended Return (WMAR). IRS has implemented a mitigation strategy by placing messaging on IRS.GOV explaining the backlog of inventory and providing a response time of more than 20 weeks. Once inventory levels are caught up, we anticipate returning to the 16-week timeframe.
