The Taxpayer Advocacy Panel is a Federal Advisory Committee whose mission is to listen to taxpayers, identify taxpayers' projects and make suggestions for improving IRS service and customer satisfaction.

TAP is comprised of approximately 75 members who volunteer to serve a three-year term, and represent all 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and a member to represent U.S. Citizens living or working abroad.

TAP members are divided into six separate Project Committees that focus on specific projects. The Joint Committee is made up of representatives from each Project Committee.

The Taxpayer Advocacy Panel

(TAP) has forwarded more than 3,169 recommendations to the IRS. Our volunteer members act as a two-way channel between the IRS and the general public to listen to taxpayers, identify projects, submit recommendations, resolve problems, and monitor progress in implementing and maintaining solutions.
