Form 8867 Paid Preparer's EITC Checklist

Statement of Issue:

EITC Program Analyst Alisa Blum at the Committee’s teleconference March 17, 2005. requested feedback from the EITC Committee on Form 8867, Paid Preparer’s Earned Income Credit Checklist.. These comments supplement the Proposals for Improvement of Form 8867, Paid Preparer’s Earned Income Credit Checklist, that the Committee submitted on July 14, 2003 (TAP A03-018).. These are compiled individual responses and not the result of the full committee’s consensus.

Proposal:

The Committee re-submitted Proposals for improvement of Form 8867, Paid Preparer's Earned Income Credit Checklist, (TAPA03-018) that the Committee submitted on July 14, 2003, and also submitted a compilation of provided general comments about The Form and whether the form and the record keeping requirements effectiveness in insuring the credit went to all and only those eligible for the credit. The Committee also made recommendations about the general form and structure of the form and line by line recommendations for improvement.
