TAP Participation in EITC Grass Roots Forums

Statement of Issue:

TAP members were not involved in EITC Grass Roots Forums conducted in Los Angeles and Miami in 2004.

Proposal:

The Committee asked the EITC program to:

1. Provide the TAP Earned Income Tax Credit Issue Committee with information on future Grass Roots Forums.
2. Invite TAP to set up a table at future Forums to inform taxpayers about the opportunity to make suggestions as to how to improve the IRS by contacting TAP.
3. Notify local TAP members of future Forums and invite them to participate.

The EITC Director reported that the proposal was forwarded to the appropriate staff for consideration and response to the Committee.

EITC Committee members were informed of the dates of the 2005 forums.
