TAP Director
National Office Update
May 7, 2008

Following is a summary of issues from the TAP Director for the TAP Joint Committee Meeting scheduled for May 7, 2008.   

The TAP 2008 fiscal year continues with modifications made during last month.  Current expenditures will be reviewed by the TAS finance office and final decisions will be made concerning the remaining year budget, the 3rd week in May. Current member travel expenditures for the month of April include:

• Notices Face to Face, Salt Lake City, UT, April 16-18, 2008
• Area 2 Face to Face ,  Baltimore, MD, April 22-24, 2008
• Area 7 Face to Face, Las Vegas, NV, April 24-26, 2008
• Area 5 Face to Face, San Antonio, TX, April 27-29, 2008

May travel:

• Area 1 Face to Face, Boston, MA, May 1-3, 2008
• Area 6 Face to Face, Salt Lake City, UT, May 1-3, 2008
• TAP Town Hall, Springfield., IL, May 6, 2008
• Area 4 Face to face, Cincinnati, OH, May 13-14, 2008
• SB Burden Reduction, Denver, CO, May 29-30, 2008

TAP welcomes the following Jr. Analysts to our offices:

Nina Pang – Seattle
Patti Robb – Milwaukee
Donna Powers – Plantation
Meredith Odom – Brooklyn

These candidates will be a major resource to members and staff to assist in technical research and issue development.

TAS employee Patricia DeTimmerman completed her detail assignment as acting manager in our Milwaukee office on May 2nd. TAP Sr. Analyst Susan Gilbert will take over as the acting manager for the Milwaukee office and will also be working closely with the Joint Committee to provide some of the support previously handled by Barbara Foley.

Recruitment
The online application closed on April 30, 2008 and we currently have 618 applications.  This is an increase of 61% from last year’s total.  Thanks to all who assisted in this phase of the process.  The week of May 12th staff will rank packages and identify the best qualified candidates. The next step will be to start identifying potential interview teams.  The area offices will be in contact with members to recruit for this function.  The current timeline has interviews occurring in mid June. 

TAP Annual Report 
The TAP annual report continues on target for the release to occur soon. The team led be Maryann Motza continues to work on the report and by all indications will produce a document that all of TAP will be proud of.  

TAP Annual Meeting
TAS Learning and Education is in negotiations to secure a location for this year’s annual business meeting.  It is anticipated that a location will be named by late May.

TAP Town Halls
The final TAP hall is scheduled to occur on May 6, 2008 in Springfield IL.  Early media activity hints that this could be the largest event for the year. Report out on this event should occur during our call on the 7th.
