Small Business/Self Employed
Taxpayer Burden Reduction Committee
Taxpayer Advocacy Panel Members
March 2008
The working equation for the IRS is: Service plus Enforcement equals Compliance. The IRS must run a balanced system of tax administration based on a foundation of taxpayer rights. The members of this issue group will provide input and feedback to the IRS on several current and proposed initiatives that focus on improving Service and/or Enforcement and as an element of improving tax compliance.
The Group will have an opportunity to provide their perspectives on issues that taxpayers face. They will also have the opportunity to influence procedures taxpayers must use to comply with their tax obligations. In exploring taxpayer service initiatives, the group’s focus will be to:
- Provide input on products that will aid in reducing burden to small business owners
- Develop an educational strategy for first time Schedule C filers.
- Work with SBSE to provide suggestions and recommendations for improving the compliance of Schedule C filers.
